Ford Point

In 2006, Vetrazzo® opened its manufacturing plant and corporate headquarters in the refurbished Ford Assembly Building at Ford Point in Richmond, California. We’re excited to be a part of the revitalization of this historic landmark. The building opened in 1931 as Ford’s west coast Model-A production plant, and enjoyed a rich history (including being converted to war-time production) until its close in 1956.

This striking building was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, and is a great example of the work of Albert Kahn, the 20th-Century architect famous for pioneering the “daylit factory” design that utilizes extensive windows to allow natural lighting on the factory floor.

We’re pleased to set up shop in this historic building, and in the spirit of Kahn’s vision, we’re doing everything possible to ensure our manufacturing plant is green -- from utilizing daylight, to a negative-pressure dust booth to minimize air pollution in the plant, to a state-of-the-art system that recycles the water we use. We’re proud of our manufacturing plant, so if you’re going to be in the San Francisco Bay Area, give us a call and see if you can make one of our regularly scheduled public tours. You’ll be glad you did.

Vetrazzo -- Born in the USA

Granite – what can be more green than natural stone, right?

Tell that to the quarry workers that are laboring under unacceptable working conditions in India, China, Turkey and Brazil to provide cheap granite for the U.S. Bonded labor. Silicosis. Destruction of the environment. Suddenly, stone isn’t so green.

We’re proud to be a US-based business that uses only US-based raw materials and uses 100% US domestic labor paid a living wage. And we’re designing our factory to be a model for green manufacturing. Now that’s green.
